COMPONENTS AND CHARACTERISTICS

Diosmin: is a flavonoid, a natural substance with a ubiquitous distribution in the plant world but contained in significant concentrations in the fruits of the genus Citrus (lemons, oranges, grapefruits, etc.). It has always been known and proposed in the treatment of venous insufficiency characterized by nocturnal cramps, pain, heaviness, and swelling in the legs, but this substance also has anti-edematous, anti-inflammatory, and anti-varicose activity, making it useful in the presence of hemorrhoids, cellulite, varicose veins, capillary fragility and related manifestations such as bruising, hematomas, and purpura.

Vitamin C: exerts its antioxidant activity specifically in this case on connective tissue, providing not only a protective action but also a specifically reparative and regenerative action.

Black currant: it has long been known that the dry extract standardized black currant is capable of combating fragility and excessive vascular permeability through a well-demonstrated capillary-protective action at the level of both venous and arterial blood vessels. This action is explained by the fact that the anthocyanins present in the phytocomplex can inhibit the activity of certain enzymes (elastase and collagenase) that destroy collagen and elastic tissues. Several clinical studies have shown that the anthocyanins of black currant significantly reduce damage to capillaries compared to placebo.

Bromelain 2500 GDU: this proteolytic enzyme performs important functions at the level of connective tissue proper and especially concerning fibrin. Melilotus: the main effect of the coumarin present in Melilotus is that exerted on lymphatic drainage, which is essential to ensure the return of fluids present in the extracellular spaces to the heart. A deficiency in lymphatic circulation indeed causes the accumulation of these fluids in the tissues and thus swelling, particularly frequent in the area of the ankles. Furthermore, coumarin significantly reduces the breakdown of catecholamines, particularly adrenaline at the vascular level with a consequent improvement in the contractile capacity of blood vessels.

Centella asiatica: the triterpenic derivatives present in the leaves of Centella are particularly useful for the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency. Stimulating collagen production by fibroblasts leads to an increase in fibronectin, which is a structural protein important for the stability of venous vessel walls and collagen itself.

Orthosiphon stamineus: is known for its diuretic and purifying action. It moderately increases urine volume, promoting the excretion of sodium, potassium, and also chlorine. The diuretic action of the plant is also due to a decrease in fluid retention by the colloids present in tissues and in the blood. These effects are very useful also in case of cellulite, as it is known that the tissue affected by this problem is very rich not only in water but also in uric acid.

Red vine: is, along with black currant, one of the most well-known and used phytocomplexes when an antioxidant, anti-edema, and protective action on microcirculation is needed. The most important components found in the leaves belong to the category of bioflavonoids (anthocyanidins and proanthocyanidins). In particular, the bioflavonoids from red vine have intense antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. Their most important action takes place at the capillary level where they positively influence vascular permeability. Procyanidins can stabilize collagen fibers and inhibit the catabolic activity of elastase, an enzyme that leads to the degradation of this key protein of connective tissue.
