Virbac effitix 4 pipette dogs 10-20 kg, for the treatment and prevention of infestations by fleas mosquitoes and sandflies.
DESCRIPTION
Fleas: For the treatment and prevention of infestations by fleas (Ctenocephalides spp.) Fleas on dogs are killed within 24 hours of treatment. One treatment prevents the infestation by new adult parasites for four weeks. The product can be used as part of a treatment strategy for the control of Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD) when it has been previously diagnosed by the veterinarian.
Ticks: One treatment prevents the infestation by ticks for four weeks (Ixodes ricinus, Dermacentor reticulatus and Rhipicephalus sanguineus). If ticks are present when the product is applied, not all ticks are killed within the first 48 hours, but they can be killed within a week. The treatment indirectly reduces, for 4 weeks after application, the risk of transmission of diseases transmitted by infected ticks for 4 weeks (canine babesiosis).
Sandflies and Mosquitoes: One treatment provides a repellent activity (anti-bite) against sandflies (Phlebotomus perniciosus) and mosquitoes (Culex pipiens, Aedes aegypti) for four weeks.
Dose:
The minimum recommended dose is 6.7 mg of fipronil / kg of body weight and 60 mg of permethrin / kg b.w.

Mode of employment
Hold the pipette in an upright position. Shake the narrower part of the pipette to ensure that the contents are within the wider part of the pipette. Break the seal at the top of the spot-on pipette along the marked line.
Separate the dog's fur until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the pipette directly against the exposed skin and gently squeeze a few times to empty the contents. Repeat the process in one or two different spots on the dog's back.
Care should be taken to avoid excessive wetting of the fur with the product as this will cause a sticky appearance of the fur at the application site. However, if this should occur, it will disappear within 24 hours after application.
White deposits may be present at the application site up to 48 hours after application.
Contraindications
In the absence of available data do not use in puppies under 2 months of age or weighing less than 3 kg.
Do not use on sick animals (i.e. systemic diseases, fever…) or convalescent animals.
Do not use on rabbits, as adverse reactions and even death may occur.
This product is specifically developed for dogs. Do not use in cats, as overdoses may occur.
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients.
Adverse reactions
If there is licking, a brief period of hypersalivation may be observed mainly due to the nature of the excipients.
Among the extremely rare suspected adverse reactions reported, after use, are transient skin reactions at the application site (skin discoloration, local alopecia, pruritus, erythema), general pruritus and alopecia. After use, hypersalivation, reversible neurological symptoms (hyperesthesia, depression, nervous symptoms), vomiting, and respiratory symptoms have been exceptionally reported.
If serious adverse reactions or other reactions not mentioned in this leaflet occur, please inform your veterinarian.
Special warnings for each target species:
Shampooing one hour before treatment does not affect the efficacy of the product against fleas.
Bathing or immersion in water within 2 days after applying the product should be avoided.
Weekly immersion in water for 1 minute reduces the period of persistence of the insecticidal efficacy against fleas by one week.
The product does not prevent ticks from attaching to animals. If the animal has been treated before exposure to ticks, these will be killed in the first 24-48 hours after the attack. This will occur before the meal is completed, reducing but not excluding the risk of disease transmission. Once dead, the ticks will fall off the animals, and any remaining ticks can be easily removed by gently tugging on them.
Dog fleas often also infest the animal's kennel, bedding, or resting areas such as carpets and cushions that, in cases of massive infestations, must be treated at the beginning of the implementation of control measures, with appropriate insecticides and cleaned regularly.
When used as part of a strategic program for the treatment of Flea Allergy Dermatitis, monthly application is recommended for allergic patients and other dogs in the household.
For optimal control of flea infestations in the presence of promiscuous groups of animals, all dogs and cats in the family/group must be treated with an appropriate insecticide.
Special precautions for use in animals:
Animals must be accurately weighed before treatment.
Avoid contact with the eyes of animals. In case of accidental contact with the eyes, immediately and thoroughly rinse the eyes with water.
It is important to ensure that the product is applied to an area where the animal cannot lick it and to ensure that animals do not lick each other after treatment.
