Virbac effitix 4 pipette dogs 40-60 kg, for the treatment and prevention of infestations by fleas, mosquitoes, and sand flies.

DESCRIPTION

Fleas: For the treatment and prevention of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides spp.) Fleas on dogs are killed within 24 hours of treatment. One treatment prevents infestation from new adult parasites for four weeks. The product can be used as part of a treatment strategy for managing Flea Allergic Dermatitis (FAD) when this has been previously diagnosed by a veterinarian.

Ticks: One treatment prevents tick infestation for four weeks (Ixodes ricinus, Dermacentor reticulatus, and Rhipicephalus sanguineus). If ticks are present when the product is applied, not all ticks will be killed within the first 48 hours, but they may be killed within a week. The treatment indirectly reduces the risk of transmission of diseases transmitted by infected ticks for 4 weeks after application (canine babesiosis).

Sand flies and mosquitoes: One treatment provides a repellent activity (anti-bite) against sand flies (Phlebotomus perniciosus) and mosquitoes (Culex pipiens, Aedes aegypti) for four weeks.

Dose:
The minimum recommended dose is 6.7 mg of fipronil / kg of body weight and 60 mg of permethrin / kg b.w.

Active ingredients:

fipronil 61 mg/ml
permethrin 545 mg/ml

How to use

Hold the pipette in an upright position. Shake the narrow part of the pipette to ensure that the contents are within the wider part of the pipette. Break the seal at the top of the spot-on pipette along the marked line.
Separate the dog's fur until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the pipette directly against the exposed skin and gently squeeze several times to empty the contents. Repeat the procedure in one or two different spots on the dog's back.

Care must be taken to avoid excessive wetting of the fur with the product as this will cause a sticky appearance of the fur at the application site. However, if this occurs, it will disappear within 24 hours after application.
White deposits may be present at the application site up to 48 hours after application.

Contraindications
In the absence of available data, do not use in puppies under 2 months of age or weighing less than 3 kg.
Do not use on sick animals (i.e., systemic diseases, fever…) or convalescing animals.
Do not use on rabbits, as adverse reactions and even death may occur.
This product is specifically developed for dogs. Do not use in cats, as overdoses may occur.
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients.

Adverse reactions
If licking occurs, a brief period of hypersalivation may be observed mainly due to the nature of the excipients.
Among the extremely rare suspected adverse reactions reported after use, transient skin reactions at the application site (skin discoloration, local alopecia, itching, erythema), general itching, and alopecia have been noted. After use, hypersalivation, reversible neurological symptoms (hyperesthesia, depression, nervous symptoms), vomiting, and respiratory symptoms have been exceptionally reported.
If serious adverse reactions or other reactions not mentioned in this leaflet occur, please inform your veterinarian.

Special warnings for each target species:

Shampooing one hour before treatment does not affect the product's effectiveness against fleas.
Baths or immersion in water within 2 days after application of the product should be avoided.
Weekly immersion in water for 1 minute reduces the persistence of insecticidal efficacy against fleas by one week.

The product does not prevent tick attachment to animals. If the animal has been treated before exposure to ticks, these will be killed within the first 24-48 hours after the attack. This will happen before the completion of the meal, reducing but not excluding the risk of disease transmission. Once dead, ticks will fall off the animals, and any remaining ticks can be easily removed by pulling them gently.
Fleas from dogs often infest the animal's bedding, bedding, or resting areas such as carpets and cushions, which, in cases of massive infestations, must be treated at the beginning of the implementation of control measures, with appropriate insecticides and cleaned regularly.

When used as part of a strategic program for the treatment of Flea Allergic Dermatitis, monthly application is recommended for allergic patients and other dogs in the household.
For optimal control of flea infestations in the presence of promiscuous groups of animals, all dogs and cats in the household/group must be treated with an appropriate insecticide.

Special precautions for use in animals:
Animals must be accurately weighed before treatment.
Avoid contact with the eyes of animals. In case of accidental contact with the eyes, wash the eyes immediately and thoroughly with water.
It is important to ensure that the product is applied to an area where the animal cannot lick it and to ensure that animals do not lick each other after treatment.
