Description
Absorbent antimicrobial polyurethane foam dressing with a soft silicone contact layer with micro-adherence.
External film made of breathable polyurethane permeable to water vapor and impermeable to liquids and bacteria.
Absorbent and flexible open-cell polyurethane foam pad with vertical absorption, gray in color, containing silver sulfate and activated charcoal.
Contact layer with the wound made of soft Silicone Safetac. The soft silicone technology, Safetac, applied to Molnlycke dressings minimizes patient pain and trauma to the lesion even in critical situations, or when the exudate begins to dry out:
- conforms to irregular skin surfaces to create a larger contact area, which helps distribute the force needed for removal, preventing skin stripping;
- leaves no residues on the wound bed or healthy skin;
- seals the wound edges, preventing exudate from spreading onto the perilesional skin, minimizing maceration risks;
- does not adhere to moist surfaces, such as open wounds, but to the dry edges of the lesion.
The antimicrobial action of Mepilex Ag is ensured by the presence inside the foam of a silver-based salt, silver sulfate, which releases silver ions upon contact with fluids, responsible for the specific antimicrobial action of the dressing.
Mepilex Ag is indicated for managing wounds with low to moderate exudation such as:
- leg ulcers;
- pressure ulcers;
- partial-thickness burns;
- it can be used on infected wounds as part of a treatment regimen under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.

Warnings
- Must be used under healthcare personnel supervision.
- Do not use if the patient has a confirmed hypersensitivity to silver.
- Do not use together with oxidizing agents such as solutions based on hypochlorite or hydrogen peroxide.
- Qualified medical professionals should be aware that there is very limited data on prolonged and repeated use of dressings containing silver, especially in children and infants.
- Do not use during radiotherapy or diagnostic tests such as X-rays, ultrasound, diathermy, or magnetic resonance imaging.
- Avoid contact with electrodes or conductive gels during electronic measurements, e.g., electrocardiograms (ECG) and electroencephalograms (EEG).
- For external use only.
- May cause temporary discoloration of the wound bed and perilesional skin.
- Does not replace adequate systemic therapies necessary in the presence of clinical infections - In case of clinical infection, application does not exclude the need for systemic therapy or another appropriate infection treatment.
- No interactions with other topical treatments have been demonstrated.
- No interactions with cleaning solutions other than saline or water have been demonstrated.
- Do not reuse. Reusing the product may impair its efficacy and cause cross-contamination.

Storage
Store in a dry place at temperatures below 25°C and protect from direct sunlight.
Shelf life when the packaging is intact: 36 months.
