PROPERTIES OF THE COMPONENTS
Monascus ruber:
Monascus, prepared from the fermentation of red rice, is rich in natural statins that selectively inhibit the enzyme 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase, reducing the synthesis of
endogenous cholesterol.
Widely used as food by Asian populations for its beneficial effects on altered cholesterol levels, Monascus is useful in addressing cardiovascular risk factors by promoting the restoration of a correct lipid profile.
The administration of the extract promotes a reduction of LDL cholesterol and helps in the simultaneous increase of HDL cholesterol.
Cynara scolymus:
The active ingredients present in the Artichoke primarily target the liver with a multiple action. Increased liver and biliary function promotes lipid metabolism, increasing cholesterol excretion; it has recently been observed that artichoke preparations could
even inhibit de novo synthesis of cholesterol.
The choleretic action results in an increased secretion of bile acids that would thus be responsible
for the hypocholesterolemic and anti-atherosclerotic action: the artichoke, therefore, in addition to reducing the synthesis of
fatty acids and cholesterol by liver cells, promotes the transformation of circulating cholesterol
into bile acids that are then eliminated.
Plantago ovata:
The seeds are particularly rich in mucilage (arabinoxylans), proteins, an oil, and iridoid glycosides
such as aucubin. The mucilage of Ispaghul, when in contact with water and digestive secretions, swells to create a non-digestible, fluid, non-irritating gel.
Its actions are multiple: it has a hunger-breaking effect, regulates intestinal transit, slows the absorption of food; hence, it is used in weight-loss treatments, in constipation, and in hyperlipidemias.
Klamath algae:
The ability of Klamath to normalize fatty acid metabolism has been demonstrated, simultaneously reducing
LDL cholesterol and triglycerides.
Klamath is rich in Omega 3, which, besides being the most important fatty acids in normalizing
lipid metabolism, are also the rarest.
The effects can be partially explained only by the content of Omega 3 in the alga and should thus be attributed to the synergy of its numerous constituents.

CONTRAINDICATIONS AND SIDE EFFECTS
Do not use during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, in case of therapy with hypolipidemic drugs, in bile duct obstruction, in cholelithiasis, in intestinal obstructions.
At the recommended doses, no undesirable effects are known.
