INDICATIONS: BASENPULVER PASCOE® and BASENTABS pH-balance PASCOE® contain a mixture of carbonate mineral salts with added basic magnesium carbonate, which can help meet the daily requirement for magnesium, calcium, sodium, potassium, and zinc that supports normal acid-base metabolism. Calcium and magnesium also contribute to normal muscle function and the maintenance of normal bones.

BASENPULVER
HOW TO USE: 1 teaspoon (about 4 g) or a sachet, dissolved in a glass of water, preferably in the evening before going to bed. Do not administer to children under 4 years of age.
AVAILABLE PACKAGING: 100 g and 260 g powder, 30 sachets of 4 g.

BASENTABS
HOW TO USE: 6 to 8 tablets to be swallowed with plenty of water, preferably in the evening before going to bed. Do not chew. Do not administer to children under 4 years of age.
AVAILABLE PACKAGING: blisters of 100 and 200 tablets.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: not known.

ACID-BASE BALANCE
Energy metabolism generates an accumulation of metabolic waste that is eliminated through the intestines, kidneys, skin, and lungs. Many of these metabolic wastes are acidic and require proper neutralization for elimination.
If the body produces a larger amount of acidic metabolic waste than it can neutralize and eliminate, there will be an accumulation of acidic substances leading, over time, to acidosis.
Similarly, a deficiency of alkaline substances can lead to a state of acidosis. To limit the damage caused by acidosis, the body will have to activate costly compensation systems to balance this imbalance. The body first deposits the acidic waste in the connective tissue and then releases and eliminates it when basic mineral salts are again available in the blood. This phenomenon occurs practically every day in our body. An incorrect or unbalanced diet (excessive amounts of meat, cheese, coffee, and reduced consumption of vegetables and whole products) can cause a state of acidosis related to this type of diet.
Other causes of acidosis can derive from poor oxygenation of the body and reduced waste elimination capacity through the kidneys. A sedentary lifestyle and being in closed environments do not always allow for proper oxygenation. Finally, insufficient fluid intake does not allow for adequate waste elimination through the kidneys and skin (sweating).

How to determine the state of acidosis?
The easiest method to assess acidosis is to measure the pH value of the urine. The pH indicator strips, useful for measurement, can be found inside the package.
The pH value should vary throughout the day, defining a personal curve.

Diet
A correct diet should include alkalizing foods for about 75% of daily intake: fruits, vegetables, potatoes, cabbage, lettuce, salad. Among the acidifying foods are meat, poultry, cured meats, fresh and aged cheese, yogurt, starchy products, and sweets.
Many foods, while being acidifying, are essential and should not be eliminated as they are a vital source of proteins and vitamins, however, their acidifying contribution must be compensated by the intake of alkalizing foods. If these precautions are not enough, a zinc-based supplement like BASENPULVER/BASENTABS may be useful.

Physical activity, lifestyle
A walk in the woods or a bike ride enhances oxygen intake and promotes the release of carbonic acid in the form of carbon dioxide. Avoid, if possible, situations that generate stress.
