Oftaial Plus
100 ml of solution contain: sodium hyaluronate (0.4 g), taurine (0.5 g), sodium chloride, magnesium chloride, potassium chloride, monosodium phosphate, disodium phosphate, water for injection preparation.
What it is
The product is an ophthalmic solution.
Why it is used
Oftaial Plus is a hypotonic solution intended for installation on the ocular surface or on contact lenses, particularly in the presence of "dry eye" symptoms.
Thanks to the high concentration of sodium hyaluronate (0.4%) and the presence of salts such as magnesium and potassium, the product moisturizes and lubricates the ocular surface and reduces the risk of instability of the tear film.
Furthermore, the peculiarity of the product's composition lies in the presence of taurine, the physiologically most abundant amino acid in the tear fluid and generally in all tissues of the anterior segment of the eye.
Several studies show that the presence of taurine increases the percentage of cells that survive in hyperosmolarity conditions.
Hyperosmolarity, at the level of the tear film, is associated with the onset of "dry eye" symptoms.
Therefore, the product, while not having a pharmacological effect, protects the corneal epithelium from potential damage caused by particular conditions that can provoke the onset of so-called "dry eye", such as:
• adverse climatic and environmental conditions such as wind, cold, sun, saltiness, air conditioning, smoke, smog, or fine dust;
• particular conditions of ocular stress due to the use of contact lenses or prolonged work at video terminals or microscopes.
The lubricating action is also useful when, in particular physical conditions or following the intake of certain medications, tear production is reduced, such as during menopause and diabetes treatment.
Moreover, for contact lens wearers, the product allows for lubricating and hydrating the lens itself to facilitate its application or removal, contributing to a sensation of comfort throughout the day.
When it should not be used
Hypersensitivity to the components or other chemically related substances.
Precautions for use
The product is for external use only.
The product should not be used immediately before the administration of medicinal products for therapeutic purposes, and in the ten minutes after the application of any topical pharmacological therapy.
To reduce the risk of contamination, each bottle should be used by only one person.
Avoid direct contact of the dropper tip with fingers, the eye, the contact lens, or any other surface.
Also avoid contact of the dropper with dirt or dust.
How often and for how long it should be used
Oftaial Plus should be dosed individually according to one’s condition and based on the recommendations of one’s eye doctor.
In general, instill 1-2 drops of the solution into the conjunctival sac of each eye as needed, even more than once a day.
For use on contact lenses: instill one drop on each lens at the time of application or removal.
Repeat as necessary, even more than once a day.
How to apply Oftaial Plus
Open the bottle by moving the protective tab.
Remove the cap.
By pressing the upside-down bottle, instill 1-2 drops of product into the conjunctival sac of each eye, letting them fall from above.
Always close the bottle with its cap after use.
Do not damage or disassemble the bottle and do not mechanically damage or block the dropper opening.
For use with contact lenses: instill a drop of product into the cavity of each lens at the time of application or removal.
Side effects
In rare cases, slight blurring of vision has been observed upon instillation, which is due to the density of the solution.
However, this sensation disappears very quickly.
In some rare cases, intolerance may occur (burning sensation and/or irritation), but it is harmless and does not require modification of treatment.
It is recommended, however, to contact your eye doctor if symptoms persist.
Following the instructions in the package insert reduces the risk of side effects.
Expiration and storage
The product should be stored at a temperature between 2°C and 25°C.
The solution should be used within 8 weeks after the first opening of the bottle.
After this period, dispose of any residue.
Attention
Do not use the solution after the expiration date indicated on the package.
The expiration date refers to the intact and properly stored product.
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use the product if the bottle is damaged.
Do not press the bottle if it is sealed with a cap.

Shipping and Delivery Methods
