Description
Medical food indicated for the dietary management of infants with low birth weight or preterm.
Specifically formulated to fortify breast milk, in line with the criteria established by the ESPGHAN 2010 document for the nutrition of low birth weight preterm infants.
Combined with preterm milk, provides 3.6 g/100 kcal of proteins. Contains a lipid mixture composed of triglycerides with medium-chain fatty acids (MCT) and DHA.

Ingredients

Modo d'uso
Before preparing, wash hands and sterilize the delivery devices. Prepare a single meal and give it immediately.
The dosages listed are indicative and can be modified, based on the doctor’s recommendations, depending on the weight and age of preterm/low birth weight infants.
The standard fortification level is 1 g in 25 ml of breast milk. It is recommended to gradually increase the dose, starting from 2 g in 100 ml of breast milk. After assessing tolerance within 24 hours, increase fortification (up to 4 g in 100 ml of breast milk) or follow hospital instructions.

Prepare one device (bottle, syringe, or enteral nutrition container) at a time and give immediately.
If the breast milk is frozen, thaw gradually in the refrigerator (below 4°C). Do not use microwave oven or leave at room temperature to thaw.
Shake/rotate the breast milk before pouring it into the device. Pour only the required amount of breast milk to be fortified into the device. Before adding the fortifier, warm the breast milk to body temperature. Do not use the microwave.
Add the required amount of Nestlé preNAN breast milk fortifier FM 85 to the desired amount of warm breast milk (35-40 °C), following the standard preparation (1 g in 25 ml of breast milk) or a specific reconstitution, if prescribed by the doctor. Close and gently shake until the powder is fully dissolved and give immediately.
For enteral nutrition: once prepared, use the fortified breast milk within 4 hours.

Warnings
Breast milk is the ideal food even for preterm or low birth weight infants. Breastfeeding should last as long as possible.
Incorrect reconstitution can pose health risks to the infant.
For hospital use only, under medical supervision.
Monitor the infant during administration, do not leave alone to prevent choking.
It is not a complete food.
Not suitable for infants with confirmed cow's milk protein allergy, lactose intolerance, and congenital metabolic diseases such as galactosemia/glucose-galactose malabsorption.
Do not administer parenterally.
Never store leftover fortified milk after each meal. Open sachets must be used immediately or discarded.

Storage
Store in a dry place, away from heat sources.
Shelf life with intact packaging: 18 months.
