INDICATIONS

This veterinary medicine kills fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) in infested cats and prevents further infestations for one month. It also prevents the multiplication of fleas by inhibiting the appearance of immature fleas in the cat's environment for 3 months.

Each 0.9 ml spot-on applicator dispenses: 423 mg of dinotefuran and 42.3 mg of pyriproxyfen.
Spot-on solution from colorless to light yellow.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Do not use in cats or kittens weighing less than 0.6 kg. Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or to any of the excipients.

ADVERSE REACTIONS

In rare cases, slight dandruff, transient erythema, and alopecia may be observed, which usually disappear spontaneously without treatment.
Transient aesthetic effects such as an oily appearance of the coat and accumulations at the application site have been reported very rarely and may persist for up to 7 days; however, these effects are usually no longer visible after 48 hours. These changes do not involve the safety or efficacy of the veterinary medicine.
Other disorders at the application site such as erythema, itching, lesions, and inflammation may occur very rarely.
Hyperactivity and tachypnea may occur very rarely.

The frequency of adverse reactions is defined using the following conventions:

- very common (more than 1 in 10 treated animals show adverse reactions during treatment)
- common (more than 1 but less than 10 animals out of 100 treated animals)
- uncommon (more than 1 but less than 10 animals out of 1,000 treated animals)
- rare (more than 1 but less than 10 animals out of 10,000 treated animals)
- very rare (less than 1 animal out of 10,000 treated animals, including isolated reports).

If side effects occur, even those not already mentioned in this leaflet or if it is believed that the medicine has not worked, please inform your veterinary physician.

TARGET SPECIES: Cats.

DOSAGE

Spot-on. Use a spot-on applicator for administration to a single cat. Use is not recommended in cats younger than 7 weeks or weighing less than 0.6 kg. (The minimum recommended dose is 42.3 mg of dinotefuran/kg body weight and 4.23 mg of pyriproxyfen/kg body weight. The treatment dosage range is from 42.3 to 705 mg of dinotefuran/kg body weight and from 4.23 to 70.5 mg of pyriproxyfen/kg body weight for cats weighing between 0.6 kg and 10 kg).

Treatment schedule:

Following a single application, the veterinary medicine will prevent flea infestation for one month and also prevent the multiplication of fleas by inhibiting their appearance in the cat's environment for 3 months. The need to retreat cats likely to be re-infested and the time interval between such treatments should be made based on the veterinarian's assessment.

APPLICATION

Be careful to apply the veterinary medicine only to intact (not damaged) skin of the cat.

How to apply: Remove the spot-on applicator from the package.

PARTICULAR STORAGE PRECAUTIONS

Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
This veterinary medicine does not require any special storage conditions.
Do not use this veterinary medicine after the expiration date stated on the spot-on applicator box after "EXP".
The expiration date refers to the last day of the month.

SPECIAL WARNING(S)
Special warnings for each target species:

All cats in the household must be treated. Household dogs should only be treated with a veterinary medicine authorized for use in that species. Fleas can infest the basket, the kennel, and the usual resting areas of the cat such as carpets, sofas, and armchairs. In the event of a heavy flea infestation and at the beginning of control measures, these areas should be treated with an appropriate insecticide and then regularly vacuumed. The impact of shampoo on the efficacy of the veterinary medicine has not been assessed. In case of suspected dermatitis (itching and skin irritation), consult the veterinary physician.

Special precautions for the use in animals:

For external use only. Apply only to the surface of the skin. Do not administer orally or by any other route. The safety of this veterinary medicine has not been proven in cats under 7 weeks of age or weighing less than 0.6 kg (see paragraph “Contraindications”). Care should be taken to apply the dose where the animal cannot lick it off (as described in the paragraph “Warnings for proper administration”), and ensure that animals do not lick each other immediately after treatment. Care should be taken to avoid contact of the contents of the spot-on applicator, or the applied dose, with the eyes of the cat to be treated and/or any other animal. No studies have been conducted on sick or convalescent cats, therefore the use in such cats should be based on the veterinarian's assessment of the risk-benefit ratio.

Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicine to the animals:
People with known hypersensitivity to dinotefuran, pyriproxyfen, or dimethyl sulfoxide should avoid contact with this veterinary medicine. The veterinary medicine is irritating to eyes and skin.

In order to avoid adverse reactions:

- Wash hands thoroughly and immediately after use.
- Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or mouth.
- In case of accidental spillage on the skin, wash immediately with soap and water.
- If the veterinary medicine accidentally comes into contact with the eyes, they should be rinsed immediately with water, with the eyelids open and for a sufficient period of time.
- Treated animals should not be touched for at least eight hours after the application of the veterinary medicine. It is therefore advisable to treat the animal in the evening.
- On the day of treatment, treated animals should not be allowed to sleep with owners, especially if children.
- Used applicators should be disposed of immediately and not left in sight and reach of children.
If skin or eye irritation persists, or if the veterinary medicine is accidentally ingested, seek medical attention immediately showing the leaflet or the label.

Pregnancy and lactation:

The safety of the veterinary medicine in adult queens has not been established during pregnancy and lactation. Use only based on the risk/benefit assessment by the responsible veterinarian. Laboratory studies with the active ingredients, dinotefuran or pyriproxyfen, in rats and rabbits have not shown birth defects or other harmful effects on embryonic or fetal development (teratogenic, fetotoxic) or harmful effects for the mother (maternotoxic effects). It has been proven that in rats dinotefuran crosses the blood-milk barrier and is excreted in milk.

Interaction with other veterinary medicinal products and other forms of interaction: None noted.

Overdose (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes):

Except for transient erythema and dry skin at the application site, no clinically relevant adverse reactions have been observed in healthy kittens aged 7 weeks or older, treated topically 7 times at intervals of 2 weeks and up to 4 times the maximum recommended dosage. In case of accidental ingestion of the product, transient adverse reactions such as salivation, abnormal feces, and vomiting may appear, which should, however, disappear without treatment within 4 hours.

Incompatibility: Not known.
